Immunoglobulins, Animal
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is one of the most abundant proteins found in animal plasma and serum. It is secreted by B cells in response to viral, bacterial and fungal infections. IgGs isolated from goat, mouse and rabbit are useful in the development of antibody-based immunoassays, being used as standards and controls or helping to reduce the non-specific binding that increases background signal and clouds results. These IgGs are also useful in basic research as controls in techniques such as western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunoprecipitation (IP), and other antibody-based assays.
