Antithrombin III
Antithrombin III is a serum protease inhibitor that inhibits the blood coagulation protease, thrombin, and is an important regulator of hemostasis. Normal serum levels are approximately 24mg/dL. Clinical conditions associated with low levels of Antithrombin III are venous thromboembolism and liver disease. Elevated levels may be detected in patients with deep vein thrombosis and septicemia.
